This rare set of abilities, along with his deep and extensive knowledge about human behavior, provides the foundation upon which Brendan’s clients are able to achieve the healing and growth that lead to happier and healthier living.

In 1998 it looked as if Brendan’s success in collegiate soccer was leading him toward a career as a professional soccer player. However, an injury ended that dream abruptly. Brendan saw early on in his recovery process that he was at a fork in the road: he could go down the path of regret and resentment – or – he could learn from this life altering experience and use it to help others face and grow from their life’s challenges.

Brendan’s passion for clinical practice took hold early on while he was working with adolescents and families in community mental health centers. After only a short time he realized that helping others discover their resilience and personal strength during transitions & crises was going to be his calling & life’s purpose.

Over the subsequent 20 years Brendan has helped people from all walks of life confront their struggles, learn from their pain and lead happier and more fulfilling lives. This very meaningful work has taken many forms. In particular Brendan has helped many men, women and young people to: understand, regulate and express their emotions constructively; deal effectively with substance abuse and addiction; heal & grow from trauma; successfully navigate life transitions; repair difficult relationship issues; learn to give and accept love; engage in calmer and more effective parenting; resolve workplace issues and advance in career; cool the fires of anger while developing healthy assertiveness skills – and much more.

Brendan’s clinical expertise is grounded in research and evidence-based practices, and he always works at a pace that is tailored to his clients’ unique situations and goals. His approach to therapy is individualized, person-centered, compassionate, and flexible.
